Unlike keeping the pet dogs and cats at home for making the life interesting. Another interesting way is to keep a fish aquarium at home. Fishes are aquatic organisms. There are different species of fish and each fish is unique in itself in its quality.
Like humans and animals, fishes also need food to stay healthy and alive for a long period of time. Feeding food to fish requires different factors to be considered. They include:
1. Type of food
2. Quantity of food to be given.
3. Time for giving food
But before taking these things into consideration one most important factor is to collect information about the belonging specie of the fish, so as to judge its nutritional requirement. The information about the specie of the fish can be either collected online or from the person from whom the aquarium has been purchased. The fishes could be herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores and their nutritional requirements differ from each other. So, it is necessary to get informed about the specie of the fish so as to feed her appropriately. There are a variety of foods available to feed aquarium fishes. But the food should be given in the right amount else may result in the death of fish or may cause bacteria in the water of the aquarium and make it dirty. If the fishes are fed with these varied food resources, then it may help to fulfill their nutritional shortcomings.
The varied food products available are:
1. The food resources that are provided to the fishes in the aquarium to eat as and when required. This can be plants, microorganisms, etc. These resources are referred to as live fish food.
2. The fish food is available in canned, frozen, or dried-frozen forms. Such food products are referred to as processed fish food. During processing the moisture is extracted so it becomes very easy to keep these products for a long period of time. Canned food is the best suited for the staple diet of the fish. The food provided to fish must be in the form of granules, flakes, etc.
Other than the selection of the type of food products another factor to be considered is that the quantity of food given must be appropriate. A fish can live by eating less food but cannot live with overfeeding. So, for feeding a fish appropriately, one thing must be kept in mind that when to feed the fish. As per the doctor’s advice, a day in a week must be left for feeding a fish. A fish can easily spend a day without eating.
Now, the question in front of us is How to feed a fish??
The answer is that there are three different ways of feeding a fish.
The first one is choosing appropriate processed food for the fish to feed:
Step 1: Collect information about the specie from which the fish belong
Step 2: find a specific kind of fish food for your fish
Step 3: Selection of the food should be made keeping in mind the fish’s mouth as well as the food products that can float or slowly sink down.
Step 4: Nutritional value of the food product must be checked
Step 5: Ensure that the size of the food product selected is according to the size of the mouth of the fish.
Step 6: Check online for the brand name of the companies providing fish food.
The second one is to feed the fish with the processed food selected
Step 1: The food product must be fed in small proportions as per the mouth size of the fish
Step 2: The food that can enlarge their size must be soaked before feeding the fish
Step 3: The fish should be fed one or two times a day
Step 4: Check for the symptoms of overfeeding
Step 5: The food should be spread in the aquarium so that every fish there may get it.
Step 6: Wait for the results if fishes belong to different species.
The third one is to feed the fish with live organisms, healthy vegetables, and supplements obtained from safe resources.
